Easter egg garland for toddlers to make
In Colombia we celebrate easter in the traditional catholic way: church, mass, fasting, processions, etc. I never heard of easter eggs or the easter bunny until I arrived to Germany and it was a total surprise for me.
The tradition here in Germany is to decorate the eggs for easter, painting them in colors. The families gather together on easter sunday and go out to the gardens. The parents hide the eggs (and some small presents) around the garden and let the kids go in a easter egg hunt. Then, the kids decorate the trees by hanging the eggs they found. I find these traditions quite interesting and also very enjoyable, especially for children.
So this year I decided to start preparing early for easter. I want to create beautiful memories that Tutu can grow up with. I started by getting some easter books so I can introduce her to the idea of easter and this week we made our first easter art project: An easter egg garland. A perfect easter craft for little hands.
To make this easter egg garland we used:
white and yellow cardboard paper
pencil
scissors
finger paints
a variety of painting supplies: sponge, paint brushes, paint rollers, bubble wrap or anything else you have on hand
puncher
wool
tape
I started by drawing the egg shapes on the cardboard paper and cutting 10 eggs. Then I gathered together my supplies, covered the table with newspaper to avoid damage and for easy cleaning.
